Religious Trauma Therapy

One of this practice’s areas of emphasis is supporting those with complicated religious or spiritual issues. This includes those who want to address religious trauma that you have experiences as well as those who want support in reconciling your spirituality with other aspects of your life.

I do not advocate any specific spiritual path or belief system.

However, if you want a therapist who is attuned to the ways that religion and spirituality can impact other areas of your life, this is one of my areas of emphasis. This can take many different shapes. Perhaps you were raised in an abusive religious environment and you continue to feel the impact of what you experienced. Maybe you are feeling a growing sense that spirituality has some role to play in your life but are not sure how it fits.

If these situations or others in this realm apply to you, should we work together, my stance will be a supportive one. I will help to create a space for you to learn from your inner wisdom about what beliefs or encounters truly resonate with you while filtering out possible messages that come from places of guilt, fear, or pressure.
